Windows Remote Desktop Connection

This is a step by step tutorial that will show you how to setup a Remote Desktop Connection on your computer. In this guide I will show you how to use Microsofts Remote Desktop Connection Client/Sever behind a Linksys NAT Router with a DHCP address. If you do not meet these conditions you may still benefit from this tutorial but may need to skip certain sections. This tutorial is based on Windows XP professional, but may be applicable to other operating systems

There are several alternatives that can be used for connecting to your computer remotely, the most popular beingGoToMyPC by Citrix. Symantec makes a utility calledpcAnywherethat will also give you remote access. The other choice (or choices should I say) are the various flavors of Virtual Network Computing or VNC. There a lot of different VNC packages availed but my favorite is the freeUltraVNC. GoToMyPC is definitely the easiest choice, but Im looking for the best method. If you dont want to have to install client software I would recommend that you use GoToMyPC. We use Symantec pcAnywhere versions 10 and 11 at work. The package works alright, but we have had compatibility problems, and an annoying glitch that I have dubbed The right click of death. PcAnywhere is just to slow and we get tired of the choppy feeling it has when loading remote screens. As for the VNC clients, Ultra VNC beats pcAnywhere in my book. Ultra VNC packs all the features that I used in pcAnywhere and it is absolutely free. Open Source at that. Many VNC clients even work with multiple operating systems.

I will admit it. I like something Microsoft has made. The Remote Desktop Connection comes bundled with Windows XP Professional and can bedownloaded for other versionsof Microsoft Operating Systems (and Mac OSX I believe). The Remote Desktop Connection uses the RDP protocol and destroys the competition when it comes to speed. My remote screen never lags as it does with pcAnywhere. Another reason I like this software is because it is easy to set up. I will prove this with my tutorial. The copy and paste file transfers are also a great feature. You can have multiple users logged in to the same machine and not interrupt each other. The one downside to RDC is that if you want to show someone how to do something on the screen you will not be able to, because they cannot see what you are doing. You will need to send a Remote Assistance request is you want to do that. I think Microsoft used its insider advantage when creating this product and that may be why the others seem so much slower (plus it isnt mirroring the screen).

Remember I am using Windows XP Professional. For other version of the operating system you may need to download Remote Desktop Connection software from Microsoft. Also if you are using Linux, I dont know why you would be reading this but try VNC.

Registering and Installing Dynamic DNS

You will only need to do this step if you have a DHCP address from your service provider. Generally speaking, cable companies provide DHCP and DSL is usually static.

Determine you IP address type (call the provider if you have to). If you have a static IP you can skip this part. We will be using to provide our Domain Name. This means we will be able to use to connect to our remote computer.

After you have signed up and you log in, go to My Services

On the left menu click Add Host Services

Now fill in Hostname, select a Domain from the drop down box, and then hit Add Host.

You should now see the host listed if you click My Hosts on the left.

Now that is great and all, but we dont want to have to leave our web browser open to update our IP address.

Now we need todownload and install the DynDNS updater client from dyndns.org.

When the download is complete double use you favorite zip utility to extract the files, and then double click setup.exe

Follow the simple installation instructions, and on the last page check the box that says Launch DynDNS Updater

The software should now be running in the system tray.

Double click the icon to bring up the configuration window. Click the settings button.

You are now prompted to enter your group. You can call the group what ever you want. I used RemoteDesktop Fill in your username and password for the DynDNS website and then click the add button.

Now enter your hostname, select you domain, and hit OK. You should now see your hostname in the list.

Click ok to return to the settings screen. Click ok one more time to return to the info screen. You should see your IP address in the boxes towards the bottom. You DynDNS Icon should be green in the tray. If it is red or you receive, go through the steps again and check for error. If everything is good continue.

You can now test your domain name by opening windows command line and pinging your DynDNS domain name.

If you do not get a reply check DynDNS settings, along with your Firewall and NAT Router settings.

Now that we have Dynamic DNS working properly we can configure the Remote Desktop Connection. It is a fairly easy process.

Right click on My Computer and then click Properties. Choose the Remote tab from the top of the Properties Window. Now under Remote Desktop check the box that says allow users to connect remotely.

Your windows account should be added. If you need to add others click the Select Remote Users button and add them. Make sure that your users have a password and a strong one preferably. I have experienced problems not being able to connect when I had no password set. It is also a major security risk, especially if the user has admin rights. Click ok when you are done. Windows Firewall will add an exception for Remote Desktop. If you are using another firewall you will have to allow Remote Desktop Connection Software.

If you are behind a NAT router you will need to forward remote desktop traffic to the computer you wish to connect to. I will be using a Linksys WRT54G router. Chances are you might have the same model, they are quite popular. We can configure the Linksys be opening our Web Browser and typing in the address of the router (Linksys Default is 192.168.1.1). Enter you username and password when prompted. By default the Linksys username is left blank and the password is admin. You should now be logged in.

Now we need to click the Applications Gaming tab, and add our port forwarding rule.

As you can see I have several rules (for whatever reason.) The one you will be concerned with will be the one that says RemoteD. Here are the detailed settings.

The first field is the name. You can call the rule whatever you want. The next two are the range. Well forward 3389 to 3389. The drop box can be left alone, it is for allowing certain protocols (I think all you need is TCP but I am not sure on that one). The last box should be the address of the computer you want to connect to. Then check the box to enable the forward and hit apply.

Now we will configure the client computer. You can use a computer on your LAN for testing (recommended) or use a remote computer. First we need to open the client. If you dont have it you can download it and install it from Microsoft. Its buried in Windows XP Pros Start Menu under Start>

All Programs>

Accessories>

Communications.

Now we will see the remote desktop client. If you do not need file transfer capabilities you can simple enter your domain and click connect.

If you would like the file transfer capabilities, click the options button. Now you will eneter the DynDNS address (or LAN IP) in the Computer field. Then enter the user name for the machine and the password. Check Save my password if you would like to save it. This will be the same username and password you added in Part 2. Domain can be left blank unless needed on you LAN.

There are several settings, but we are concerned with the file transfer. Click the Local Resources tab.

All you have to do to allow file transfer is click the Disk Drives checkbox under Local Devices like above. Now we can click connect to connect to our remote computer. It will warn you about the Disk Drives, just check dont prompt again and click ok.

I will finish the rest of this tutorial from my computer upstairs while connecting to this computer. This is the view of the screen when not maximized. If you hold your mouse in the middle of the top edge of the screen, the remote desktop menu will appear (allowing you to resize) Well I took a screenshot but it needs resized. I like using Photoshop but its on my pc. Simply transfer the file by copying it from one desktop and pasting it on the other. Then I can open it with Photoshop and resize it remotely.

When you are done simple click the X to close it. Thats all. If you have any question/suggestions on this tutorial feel free to leave a comment.

PLEASE I WANT TO KNOW IF THE PLACE WHERE YOU HAVE TO ENTER THE NAME OF THE COMPUTER CAN BE REPLACE WITH THE IP ADDRESS OF THE COMPUTER INSTEAD OF THE NAME?

Yes you can use the IP address, domain name, or Net BIOS name.

Ive been using RDP for a while, and just signed up for DynDNS a couple days ago. Whenever I try to connect using the domain name I signed up for I get a Windows 2003 Server web banner and an exclamation point in a yellow triangle on a black screen. If I use just the IP address it works fine, any ideas?

RDC uses port 3389 as you have mentioned here. Have you tried using a different port like 3392 or any other with your dyndns subscription? Microsoft says use it like this:

But it doesnt seem to work for me and was wondering if it did work for you. If it did, what did you have to do?

Well, I did everything for the host machine this said to. I created a host name at DYNDNS. On the host machine (Windows XP) I did the port forwarding on the WRT54G router, then saved the changes.

From the client machine (running Vista Home Premium) I ran Remote Desktop Connection, entered the computer name (in the form xxxx.home.dyndns.org as well as the remote IP address (not 192.168.1.1)) and hit Connect. RDC then asked me for a username and password.

Its unclear if Im supposed to enter my username and password for DYNDNS or for Windows username and password on the host PC. I tried both but get a message this computer cant connect to the remote computer.

Before attempting this I successfully connected to the host PC (XP) from the client PC (Vista) inside my own router (which is also a Linksys WRT54G) simply using RDC.

I have also installed Anyplace Control (which seems like a decent program) and can connect to the host PC.

The log in name should be the name you setup for RDC. You can add and change users in the properties. Windows client is still my preferred RDC client, but I have to use LogMeIn from work because of our proxy. Its not a bad program either.

So you should have the port forwarded to the machine running terminal services. Then just open the client and connect using your dyndns domain name. Username and password are whatever you setup. You should also get prompted for the username and password when you connect locally.

It still doesnt work. This really puzzles me. Ill check out LogMeIn and compare it to Anyplace Control. Thanks.

Ive tried LogMeIn. Its awesome and much better than Anyplace Control, which I referenced earlier. First, its free (for individual use); second, once I set up the host PC (a laptop), LogMeIn knows when it changes locations and connects to the new one seamlessly; third, its much faster.

Thanks for the tip. I dont really care about RDC now.

Can Remote Desktop be used to access multiple desktops in an office using different TCP and UDP port numbers. like in PC Anywhere.

If so,, how can mulltiple users perform remote access at the same time.. can they do using the same static IP address assigned by the ISP.

Thanks for any comments and suggestions.,

I am not sure exactly what you are trying to do. You want to have multiple PC running remote desktop service and allow multiple user to connect in. The first thing I would ask is; Is your network setup with a NAT router?

I believe that RDC will allow multiple connections to an individual PC also. The user will be on entirely separate session. I know for a fact that this works on Windows Server OS, but am not entirely sure if it will work on the PC OS.

If you are trying to forward a different port on your router to each PC that may be a possibility. It is something I have been thinking about lately, because I usually just connect into 1 PC and then start RDC from there to get to another PC. I will look into setting up multiple PCs with a NAT router. I havent been using RDC as much since I started my new job, proxy wont allow it, so I have been using LogMeIn.

I will say that after using PC anywhere at my last job I am not a big fan of it. We used it for everything and I was a very laggy program.

There are also some open source options for Windows and Linux remote administration.

Can anyone please tell me the possible reasons that fails the remote desktop connection to a remote computer using NAT IP? Can you please provide me the checklist for making a successful RDC from Windows XP system to a Windows XP remote computer.

For you guys that are asking how to do this in vista it is pretty much the same thing. You go to System>

Remote Settings>

and then click the option button for Allow connections from computers running any version of remote desktop.

Id prefer reading in my native language, because my knowledge of your languange is no so well. But it was interesting! Look for some my links:

Thanks for sharing, I did follow your instructions except that Im using D-Link router, but Im unable to connect the client could not connect to the remote computer

ALI, make sure that you find the port forwarding settings on your dlink router and forward the ports listed in this tutorial. If you need help you can find the instructions in the manual for your specific versions on the router at the DLINK website.

Thanks John, i did the forwarding correctly. I did use the Open Port Tool in found that the port are blocked, maybe by the ISP. Any idea how unblock it? what should I say to the ISP to unblock?

Do I have to configure the Modem? I have Speed Stream?

1. Connection from the LAN is Ok. (PC configuration ok)

2. Connection using xxx.dyndns.org Failed

3. Connection using IP address Failed

4. Connection by eliminating the router (connect PC directly to the modem) Failed.

5. Used the Open Port Tool, all the ports were showing timed out (is it possible that the ISP is blocking all the ports???)

Either the ISP is blocking ports or the Modem needs configuration.

I checked with the ISP and said, the only port blocked is 25.

I wouldnt think the ISP would block the ports. Does your modem have routing functionality? It is possible that you need to open the ports on the modem. Another option is using something like which uses http connection(port 80). Its also free.

Im not sure, I have SpeedStream 5200. I should a modem only but there are Port Forwarding in the Setup. I tried to do the same as I did in the router but it is not accepting my LAN IP.

This is message I receive NAPT server IP address is not a valid host LAN address.

I can get RDP to work fine from my office destop computer running XP to my home computer running XP with no problemsa at all. In fact, I can connect using RDP with my home PCs IP (NATed) IP address or the newly created Dynamic host name setup through DynDNS.

What I cannot do is get my new laptop running VISTA at my office to connect via RDP to my home PC running XP.

It works fine if I am on my home network but not if Im sitting at my desk at work.

Sorry Bruce, I have stayed a way from Vista for the most. Firewall? Update to the latest RDC on both machines. My employer blocks rdp so I useLogMeIn

Pingback:Remote Control Desktop Connection using LogMeIn Phptodays Blog()

after clicking OK its asking for user name and password.

Use the username and password for the windows user that you setup to run RDC.

How can i determine that my computer remoted at present? Can i view that at task manager?

Hi, I have a terminal server, and i have configured it already, and connection was ok, now I upgraded my main server operating system to windows 2008 server (previously 2003 server) but my terminal server stays with 2003 server. My question is, my 2003 server (terminal server) cannot connect to my main server database (MSSQL) with 2008 server OS. the error says, cannot sees the dbase/or access denied, is 2003 and 2008 server has compatibility issue regarding this?

Thanks. This is very helpful. I could always connect via Remote Desktop, but I always had to call in to recheck the IP. This saves that headache.

It worked just fine, this is a great tutorial. Keep them coming.

Thanks very much!!! Yours was the first site that clearly described that the IP addres goes in the computer field. I had thought the computer field was just an arbitrary name for the connection and that the IP address goes in the field domain. With the IP address in the domain name I was sometimes getting an RDP connection, but nothing I could reproduce. Very frustrating, thanks for making things so clear!

Is it possible to have several dyndns hostnames to contact different computers at home? If so will the router accept several port forwarding other than 3389 for the different computers on the home network.

You could just change the port of RDP in the registry for those of you whos jobs block RDP port 3389. Just google change rdp port. Then just make sure you use the same port when port forwarding on your router and when you login with RDP put :port on the end ie:(yourpc.dyndns.org:3560)

More power to all of you who are able to make this connection work. I must have some inherent problems with my ISP or something because I had to turn to 3rd partyremote desktop softwareyears ago in order to make these connections.

i have create a web site with a database in my maching using the wamp sever.i was tried to connect in to it trough an another matching in our LAN.

i put my IP and home page file name in address bar, but unable to connect whats the wrong

Hi guys i cannot get the Remote Desktop Connection to work with dyndns in my internal network though it works perfectly internally via ip (192.168.1.xxx) :/

Does it work only when you are on an external one actually?

And is there any way to verify whether encryption is disabled or not?

Please show me how to configure and lets download pdf.

APK Download] Microsoft OneDrive Gets Material Makeover In First Official Beta Release

Microsoft OneDrive, in its first beta release, is showing off a totally revamped Material interface. It seems there are no feature additions from the latest stable version, so were talking strictly cosmetic changes. But when comparing old to new, is that really such a bad thing?

This side-by-side might be the best argument for floating action buttons I have ever seen. The old versions controls on the bottom just seemed a very inefficient use of space and, overall, were just plain ugly. Heres another look at the update:

It doesnt take a very close look to see this is a big improvement. Still, there are a few things they should work out. The use of color is very odd in the new version. The status bar is the OneDrive blue, but the action bar is now white. Meanwhile, the FAB is orange for no obvious reason.

Microsoft has had a Google Plus community forOneDrive Previewfor a little while, but this is the first release under the official beta program.

You dont have to join any groups to grab this beta. Just download to your device, install, and have fun.

Fascinating read: How Google Maps has moved so far ahead of the competition

Most Wanted: The best smartwatches and wearables you can buy

Google Play Store starts showing free and premium filters for searches

Search icons off but otherwise thats quite lovely.

Material is one way to put it. I suppose that it has the elements, but the structure is a bit off. That FABs shadow is cut-off on the bottom and the button itself is spaced too far from the devices bounds. Search icon is old, toolbar doesnt match the theme, etc… I guess its better than what was, but come on, a billion dollar company should be able to afford decent Android designers and developers.

Also known as: things most regular users wont notice or care about.

They dont even know them. Or the term Material Design. Or that there are design guidelines for Apps. Or that Google is involved. Or that they use Android. Most of them think its some sort of Galaxy OS.

Galaxy OS That gave me a sad chuckle.

Though to be even more fair, most of them dont even know what OS even means, so they just call them Samsung phones thingy, whether its actually a Samsung phone or not. I work in retails and most of the people looking to buy Samsung phones dont even know what they really want is actually an Android phone, but they are only aware of ONE brand running Android in the first place so thats almost their only choice until informed otherwise. Its a sad (and funny) reality we live in, but its getting better, I believe.

That moment when some app team at Microsoft actually conforms to material design better than — ah fuggedaboutit you know what I was gonna say folks. /s

that moment when you are idiots who hate one company for no reason… google, android, apple, ios, microsoft, wp arent best… theres no one who will be clearly best… grow fuking up losers…

What the fuck are you even talking about? I dont know how you got any of that from his comment.

Someone should put this poor guy to bed…

Maybe with a little brandy toddy to calm his nerves.

THAT MOMENT WHEN MICROSOFT IS GIVING AWAY 100 GB OF ONE DRIVE FOR FREE.

This feature isnt available yet in your country or region worldwide… or almost.

But 2G is more prominent. And the data is capped. :/

Theres a dropbox promo also 100 GB free for 1 year for dropbox users

You know its bad when Microsoft is making apps with material design before Google makes Hangouts with material design

FAB doesnt make sense in Hangouts. Its used for apps where you need to create a new doc or do some other complex action.

Which is why they left it out of Messenger. /s

A Floating Action Button isnt required to be material, nor is a drawer or all the other things which people seem to think apps need in order to be material.

Sure they could use a FAB to create a conversation with someone, but they can also do it the current way. Both ways work, both ways dont make or break the materialness(?) of Hangouts.

I am starting to like Microsoft more than Google

If they play their cards right with the windows 10 roll out they could easily go from like 1-2% of the mobile market share to 10%+ in about 2 years.

I thought you were going to say next year. Now we are giving Microsoft 2 years to improve?

Im a fan of both companies, and I think both of their design philosophies are similar enough that its pretty easy to use both ecosystems together. Windows 10 universal apps actually feel very Lollipop-esque at times, and Windows 10 on my Surface has been a joy thusfar.

Same. I really like where w10 is going on all platforms and the phones for sure. Could be my next! Give me a flagship W10 phone! Nokia 1020 successor plz 🙂

This new Microsoft is interesting. I think if Ballmer was there he would have told the developers to leave the design language as metro. Its almost like they are saying, Look, Google. We are releasing apps for your platform and are following your UI guidelines so maybe you should do the same on our platform.

For real, the new Microsoft is doing everything right.

Except repairing their very poor brand image. And thats what really matters.

This is certainly helping repair that image.

thats what matters? I think products matter and Microsoft does a pretty good job lately

I dont know. My Surface Pro 3 is much less buggy and way more refined than my Nexus 6. Android 5.0 and the bugs have me considering iOS for my phone… But MS is pretty solid as far as I am concerned. Google is really sliding the past few months.

Indeed. I mean, Google seems to have some type of multiple personality syndrome. Theyve updated their UI twice, failed to follow their own guidelines, or to get many apps to come aboard with their redesigns. At least with lollipop, it seems better, but anyone remember how bad it was with ICS and Kitkat (design wise I mean). Now, my Nexus 5 lags for no apparent reason, when on Kitkat it used to fly.

At the same time, the Nexus 9 build issues seem to have been pretty widespread. I love Android, and the Nexus line, but their recent moves have me wondering whos running things now.

IOS 8 is even worse glitch wise than android 5.0. Go with MS for tablets. Windows just works well as a tablet

Not liked by a few ms haters doesnt mean poor brand image.

Completely agree! As some said, Ballmer effect … or better Ballmer-free effect 😉 I really like their RD Client, Outlook Preview, etc. and now One drive!

All cool looking, new strategy on Android to promote their cloud (maybe) but all good for us

Except Windows Phones. They still suck, big time.

I couldnt agree more. I used a Windows Phone for six months before giving up in disgust. I dont mean to say that Android is perfect, but for a techy person who likes background tasks, configurability and decent app selection, Android wins by a country mile. I also came to despise the Metro look, and how much screen space it allocated to uselessly large fonts, although I liked it for the first few days.

Yeah, actually if allowed to I could even go on a lengthy rant about how Windows Phones suck, and explain why it is so with each and every single flaw I find within the average Windows Phone, both its hardware and software (well, mostly software). I work in retails selling phones and out of all the major phone brands out there, Windows Phone is almost always the most frustrating, most infuriating to deal with. Most people who buy Windows Phones dont even know what theyre getting themselves into – and most of the time they buy them because of familiarity with the brand, firstly Nokia and secondly Microsoft, or somehow theyve convinced themselves its actually a good phone because that happens to be one of their previous possibly the first choices.

You said Android is better for a techy person, and I agree, but I would even argue that Android is better for the average user, too, and even counting the elderly ones. Windows Phones are confusing and unintuitive at best, and there are things even a techy person wouldnt be able to figure out because the OS on those phones is inexplicably stupid. So much that, I thought I hated iOS and BlackBerry (and TouchWiz, though that doesnt count as a separate OS) before, but this phone really made me question my opinions, and be more objective when considering the pros and cons and usefulness or lack thereof of a mobile OS, to arrive at the conclusion that Windows Phone sucks most balls out of all the smartphones OSs Ive ever used.

Oops, I guess that ended up being a bit of a rant after all.

Completely agree. My rating of the Microsoft brand took a nose dive after I owned the Windows Phone. Not only was the OS feature-impoverished compared to the competition, but MSs responses were usually 1) non-existant, or 2) inexplicably weird. They couldnt even get a normally functioning music player into the OS until they began weekly iterations of the app after the release of 8.1 because the Internet was exploding with complaints. I could excuse the OSs omissions as a new product (despite years of MS having produced a Windows-based phone OS), but I couldnt bear to watch and experience the lame efforts at redressing the problems.

Yeah, getting rid of Ballmer was the best thing that happened to the company in years.

Only difference Microsoft makes profit from Android OS but Google wont be able to make the same kind of profit by making Windows Phone Apps.

But still Google should make some of its app for WP to show respect.

Best thing Google would get out of it, is good PR which they could use after the bad PR from the (totally legit) exploit revealing after the 90-day window

Never mind WP, it would be nice to have more from Google for PC windows. Theres Google music manager and a pointless Google search app, but for everything else were stuck with using the web (with its associated limitations, and with Google styling rather than windows native). Google maps and music would be obvious candidates.

Youre right, but I think thats Googles whole point. Theyve been web-driven on desktops for ages. It works well for them: they can upgrade the apps whenever they like without rolling out installation packages and their web apps work on any OS with a conforming browser. I suspect they only created mobile apps to improve user experience on small screens.

they doing everything right? then why windows phone platform isnt even immportant for them anymore? they never cared since 5 years…if they do it would be fair to say third power on this market

I moved to microsoft full time since its giving me 140 GB for free, and i must say this is a very lovely, refreshing update. If only they had a Linux client, id be all set.

join bing rewards program for a 100 gigs, the rest I assume is the camera back up plus initial free 15 gigs

Satan invited me to join the Bing rewards program.

You will not need to join Bing rewards to claim this anymore. The is open to everyone now. You can claim 100gb by visiting this link

15 free, 10 for loyalty (had an account long time ago), 15 for camera backup, 100 free for 2 years from Bing Rewards.

The old versions controls on the bottom just seemed a very inefficient use…

Im sure you are just kidding. Yes they are ugly ass hell and dont belong there, but how is the new version more space efficient without it!?

Although you dont have the grey ugly bar, you see less info in the right screenshot than in the left one (both horizontal and vertical!) and to add insult to injury the FAB (which I hate in every product that is implemented) is, as usual, over a patch of text.

That is a good point that I didnt notice at first. Too bad on that. They should try and tighten it up a bit and also bring back the sharing status in the folder view.

I praise Microsoft for respecting Material Design.

Does it still give the persistent notification when you take a photo and it cant back up yet because your battery is too low?

You can swipe that away but I agree it is annoying.

I love this, Microsoft releases material update for 1 app and now all the suden Microsoft is the best tech company in the word, this is the rise of new Microsoft, Microsoft is doing everything right, 10% mobile market share in 2 years and list goes on and on and on.. it looks like my that Microsoft fans are just waiting for ANY even slight positive news about Microsoft to praise at all around tech news sites and similar.. I really thought we were pass that last year..

I love this, one innocent article about an app update, and the ms haters crawl out of the woodwork. I guess there cant be any actual negative ms news about, if they need to comment here.

Not sure what your problem is. Ill skip all the hyperbole, but for users of Microsoft services this IS good news. I use , OneDrive, and OneNote, but I also very heavily use Android (tablet and phone) and to a lesser extent iOS (iPad). I dont feel like moving my mail, calendar, cloud storage, etc., so I am very happy that they are supporting all of the major platforms and starting to move closer to the design standards on those platforms. And its not just one app update, its been a steady stream of improved support.

A couple of years ago, this would have been unheard of. That is why all the surprise and comments on the matter.

Someone show this to Zuck and tell him to be very ashamed of his grossly incompetent app developers.

Am I the only one who is annoyed by all these Meh-implementations of Material Design? Where are all the animations? Those are what makes Material Design look so slick…

90% of those Material Designed-Apps just have a permanent floating button and a colored status bar…

Old interface looks way more user friendly and useful. I think the material design interface has been Googles weakest yet. I dont mind it I guess it just doesnt look that great to me. Holo was Googles peak. That FAB is one of the dumbest designs I have ever seen. It covers up text and information. It doesnt belong at all.

I gotta say, Microsoft is doing a really good job trying to shift into services again, after trying the hardware side in the mobile space. Even there, though, they are trying to grow marketshare by providing good cheap tablets (with full WIndows 8.1 OS) that work remarkably well. I picked up an HP Stream 7 from the microsoft website a few weeks back for $59, it came with a 1 yr subscription to Microsoft Office 360 and 1 TB of space on Onedrive, plus a $25 gift card to use to buy apps, movies, etc.

Since the tablet runs full windows OS, I can watch shows on Hulu without a subscription or an app. Same for Comedy Central, although they do have an app there. FIFA 15 UT, which has been lagging on my Nexus 5 since the last lollupop update, actually plays well on the tablet, even though it has only 1GB of ram compared to 2gb on my Nexus 5. The UI is pretty intuitive, and I like that I can change accent colors for the entire OS. Metro UI also works well on a tablet, and you can switch to a regular desktop easily enough by pressing the desktop icon, connect mouse and keyboard and you are good to go. I enjoy the tablet more than I thought I would. Their Lumia 635 is also pretty good, for a $45 phone.

The old versions controls on the bottom just seemed a very inefficient use of space

Really?? The old and new versions each display the same number of files. In fact the old version displays more information as it includes timestamps which are absent on the new version. And for long filenames the old version shows you more of the text without cutting off the end. So Im not sure how the extra space is being used more efficiently. As usual with MD it is just used to show more whitespace.

Not only that but the floating action button requires an extra click compared to the old version where you could directly select upload, sync, add etc. So its more inefficient.

I heard a few times about a breakup this year. Also heard talks Satya was about to resign but they gave him another round of bond investments for another year. They are $25 billion in debt and the cash reserves they can never use or they will have to pay taxes! They are a company in ruin and downsizing was expected. They are going under and have xbox on the market for sale for an entire year. Liquidating.

If they could do this with Skype for Android then Ill congratulate Microsoft for doing something right finally!

New App] Microsoft Releases Remote Desktop Client For Android

Need to get at something on your desktop, but just arent nearby? You need remote access, and many Windows PCs have that feature built right in. Microsofts new Remote Desktop app for Android lets you hook into the included remote access system so you can use your PC from a phone or tablet. Its also completely free.

The computer youre accessing needs to be running the remote desktop host, which is not included in the basic version of Windows. For example, Windows 8 doesnt have it, but Windows 8 Pro does. If you want to go this route, thats a $99 in-place upgrade from basic to Pro. If you have the right software, the remote desktop client connects with very little configuration. The app lists all your remote desktops, gateways, and app resources in a series of holo-ish tabs. Microsofts client supports multitouch gestures and employs intelligent bandwidth usage as well.

There are a variety of other remote access apps out there, but many of them are lacking features or try to sell subscriptions to premium services. If you have the right version of Windows, this app is worth a look.

How is the speed compared to something like Teamviewer or Splashtop?

Its much faster and smoother – its directly connecting 2 computers after all.

I just installed and did a quick test; thus far, it was much easier to set up and pretty equivalent when actually up and running.

LOL, Version 8.0 for a first release on Android.

Version: 8.0 = 4 + 4. Android 4.4 confirmed!

Android 4.4 was already confirmed. You mean Android 5.3 confirmed.

Does my avatar look like Im not a gamer?

TIL. Archons are just alien baboons.

If you have to ask, you already lost the game.

I wanted to guess an Archon, but it seems like to deep of a blue for that. Any hints? 😛

I was, but I had to quit as it started taking over my life and left no time for AP.

That sucks, but then again, youve made a great site and thousands of people love reading 🙂

OH…ok. I know what it is now (DETECTIVE WORK, GO!). Didnt know you played that. 😛 I havent played much of it myself.

You mean Half Life 3 confirmed 5 times for windows!

Uhh, Ive been doing this for a long time with Teamviewer. Splashtop is great too, and its virtually lag free. It just stinks because the free version only allows you to access your machine if its on the same network. Teamviewer works really well though.

Do TeamViewer and Splashtop have the same features? Im wondering whether upgrade from Windows 8.1 core to Windows 8.1 Pro lol

Yes they do and personally Splashtop is the better of the two by far.

Yes but they dont use RDP that is built into windows natively. Hoping this will be far more similar to a normal desktop rdp situation. This will kill the market for the current paid clients out there.

Im actually using it to post this and it doesnt work any better than Teamviewer or Splashtop. Plus youll need a static IP if you want to use it on a regular basis. My ISP charges extra for those.

This is more for professionals to use. So that is not really a limitation for us.

If you want you can use dydns so you dont need a static IP.

Yeah because I totally want to pay for dydns when I said I dont want to pay for a static IP 😛

DynDNS used to be free… what happened?

I dont know. Its not free anymore. The least they charge is $25/yr which isnt bad.

Sorry I thought it was still free. I have not used it for many years. NoIP has it free if you sign in once a month to update you name.

Well you dont actually. But then thats a networking restriction and not really anything to do with the scope of the apps themselves. For me using rdp all the time this is fr better, well Im hoping it is, will be using over next few days to find out.

Darn. I just renewed my subscription to Splashtop. I guess I can still use Splashtop to connect to OSX.

WHY IS THIS NOT ON WINDOWS PHONE OMG

lol.even microsoft itself doesnt care about windows phones!!!

Thats funny! I dont care who ya are!

Google pushes out better UIs for its iOS apps, Microsoft pushes out apps to other OS that are not on its own OS. They all love the other OS. 😛

Fucking tell me about it. Its like whatever ecosystem I use is cursed :/

My guess is this is more directed at tablet use than phones and Windows tablets already have remote desktop.

Why would you use this over Teamviewer?

Its faster. Plus with the right settings its almost like you are using the real computer – its very smooth.

And you log off from the console. Nobody sees what youre doing. Btw: RDP is not a help desk software.

Doesnt require a server on the desktop. This uses the built in RDP which is far superior.

Cisco VPN sucks on Android. I want the OEMs to build it in.

Does this app only works with windows 8 on the desktop side? What about windows 7?

Just tried it with my work laptop, which is Win7. The bigger headache was getting my phone on my workplaces internal wi-fi network.

I used it to connect to our server (Server 2008); I will test on my Win7Pro tonight. Win7 Home will not work.

Wat… Not sure if you understand what RDP is.

if i keep all my files in Dropbox, why do i need to remotely access my PC via RDP?

RDP isnt just for accessing files, its for controlling your desktop remotely, like VNC.

can you give me an example of real world use for a layman?

Your mom/sister/daughter/wife calls you saying she cant play videos on youtube because something called flash is missing. You remote in and install it for her.

im a more of a business guy and less a techie so i dont see much need for this personally.

Easy: Youre giving a presentation. The IT guy notices youre having issues with the sound config. He remotes from the back of the room using his tablet and gets it working for you without anyone even knowing anything went wrong. 🙂

Your Plex server is once again not responding to outside connections. So you remote in to restart it… (have to do this way to often for such a nice piece of software). I currently use Jump Desktop to do this via my phone or tab.

Youre out and about, and you remember that your computer is still on and you want to shut it down. You log on via RDP, and you have your full desktop in front of you, with the mouse and keyboard access. You can use it to check IRC messages or stop/start playing music from miles away. Really, at that point you can do anything.

I use it to play music in my HTPC for example

Picture this: I had to leave my home in a hurry while something was downloading. So I got where I was going, logged in through RDP, shut down the PC. Nice, right? Thats RDP.

I think I have to mention that a PC is not only a hard drive!!!

How can you download porn on your home computer from work using dropbox?

Easy, you configure torrent to watch your dropbox directory for new .torrent files.

Easy. You have a music studio with two pcs and really loud speakers. You know your coworker is in and doing some work. You log in and find the worst noise ever, turn up the volume and press play. Ah, good times

this is to access your PC without actually being there. say you need to access a program, save that file you were working on, whatever.

Can anybody help me out with setting up the app? I am looking at it but I have no idea what I am looking at really lol

I know there are plenty of remote desktop alternatives already, but I like this idea a lot for two reasons:

1) Its free (yes, I know there are already free alternatives).

2) It comes from Microsoft. I love an app thats officially supported like this. The alternative apps may work wonderfully (Ive been meaning to try one, but never have), but if Microsoft changes something in Windows on their end, its always possible that the app could lose functionality or stop working altogether. I realize that could still happen, but the odds of it getting fixed quickly are raised.

I really prefer to use other alternatives, I dont know why I cant tolerate microsofts products.

Try ElementaryOS. Once i tried it, i never looked back

I was thinking at first that it would also be cool if this came from Google, but I quickly realized that would never happen. If anything, they would create one to remotely access a Chrome OS, but they wouldnt want to unnecessarily steer anyone towards Windows.

This also seems like a smart move by Microsoft, since it keeps Windows relevant – especially with the younger population (many of whom are using Windows PCs less and less).

but I quickly realized that would never happen

It seems like maybe you didnt read my entire comment. Either that or you added the wrong link. That article talks about remote access to a PC running Chrome not Windows and like I said:

If anything, they would create one to remotely access a Chrome OS

Did you know google made a remote access extension for chrome?

I know its not an android app – but it seems like you might find it mildly relevant.

Thanks @jamesheyneman:disqus and @alexeiwatson:disqus. That doesnt exactly disprove my theory, but it is relevant to the discussion. Ill have to check that out.

To be clear, I have nothing against Google creating an RDP app. In fact, I think it would be cool, albeit a little unnecessary now that Microsoft has released this one. I just dont see it happening.

I should have mentioned in my previous reply that Google released an extension for Chrome that lets you access remotely a Mac or Windows PC from Chrome. I have a feeling thats what the intended plan is with the Chromoting app. Looks like Alexei beat me to the mention of the extension.

Actually, Microsoft has been pretty good about playing in the Android sandbox. They created on(X), which allowed scripting actions on your phone via Javascript.

I dont think that youre wrong about this, but Ill say I just played with it for about 20 minutes and the experience I had with it was quite a bit worse than with Jump. First, there doesnt appear to be a zoom function (though I suspect I just missed it somehow). Most importantly though, the performance difference was pretty significant. Think Ill stick with Jump myself.

Yeah, like I said, I hadnt tried any of them. I just tried this one and it does seem pretty cool, but I also couldnt find any way to zoom.

Can someone give some tutorial about how to set this thing up? I have written the pc ip and a friendly name for it but I dont know what to write for Domain/User and password?, (iam Windows 8.1 Pro) help please 🙂

Username and Password. Your PC must be password protected for this to work

well how can i understand if its protected or not? 🙂 I have been accessing the computer via my outlook adress and outlook password, or with the pin. Where can I learn my exact username and password?

Its exactly your outlook username and password (you can also use your first name as username)

OK thanks, do i need to configure a gateway? (dont know what it is :D)

You need to have a password set on the PC for this. Reason why Im not trying this further, I hate setting passwords on my PC and having to enter them my logging in, haha.

You can set it up to login automatically without any user input. Of course thats only useful if youre the only user

Where would I set that up? I know Ive seen that option somewhere but cant recall where, hehe.

Wait, isnt that option there when you dont set a password?

Thanks, found that on Googling already. Nice.

Sure- go ahead and email me you username, password and IP and Ill show you how to use it =)

Anyone have a better way to right-click other than going through that menu?

Good point. Im assuming it will support rdp back to XP like all current clients do, but will need to test out.

I connected and got 2 minutes of use to my station at work (Win7) before it locked up my tablet.

What were you connecting from and too? Out of interest.

Nexus 10 (Stock 4.3) to Windows 7 Ultimate.

Anyone getting where its refusing to connect to the remote PC?

Ive enabled the ability to remote connect but its not going…does 8.1 have a Remote Desktop service? My laptop works fine in connecting…the app however…

Only Pro can be remote access server. Normal Windows 8 can not if you have that installed. They both however come with the ability to remote into other servers.

Im on 8.1 Pro, actually. I dont know whats going on. 🙁 Remote Desktop always has hated me. haha

Is your laptop on the same network? You might need to enable port forwarding for the RDP port of 3389.

The laptop is on the same network, yes. As is my tablet, but Ill give this a try after work.

what were you expecting??? Its Microsoft, you should be happy you didnt get a bluescreen!!! 😀

Locked up my Nexus 10 hard after about 2 minuites. Never had that happen before.

Of course it had to be a Microsoft app.

Blame the app dev for the app crashing, blame the OS dev for the OS crashing.

App devs should be able to work around virtually any OS-level issues unless the platform is absolutely unworkable.

Weve been writing apps for MSFT OSs for decades. We should be used to doing that by now. 😉

Nope. An app should *never* be able to crash the OS. If it can it is 100% a problem with the OS.

Never claimed the OS didnt have issues. Blamed the dev for not being able to work around them.

No OS on the planet is crash-proof. Life dont work that way.

Well just because its what you did before doesnt mean that its good.

As a result Microsoft now has to keep a bunch of bugs unpatched so that apps that worked around them dont break. And this results in NOTHING good.

Why did they have to work around them? (he asked rhetorically)

Its never good. Thats why we call em bugs and view them as bad. 😉

Some people will always hate M$. its the way things go.

I dont love or hate brands. I like or dislike products. Heck, I probably shouldnt even word it that way. I dont really like Windows 8, for example, but there are some really good features I wish could be brought to Windows 7. I do like Android, but I really wish there was a way to incorporate some iOS and even WP features.

Anyone who says they love or hate a brand isnt someone whos opinion was formed by reason. They like it or hate it because they are emotionally invested, which offends reason.

FWIW: the Way to go MSFT! was snark. It wasnt meant to be taken seriously. …but I cant say I dont enjoy seeing people get all uppity about it.

Of course it had to be a Microsoft app.

hating microsoft is entirely fine, as i hate them equally as much.

I was simply explaining to Ezhik that there is no winning when it comes to defending them,

[Insert hand into pants and pull panties out of ass].

App dev for not testing their app on all device.

OS dev for allowing such an app (or multiple apps conflicting) to crash the OS.

Arrrgggghhh comments have turned into IT support, PEBKAC :-/

Plus a lot of people totally missing the point 🙁

Dont know how to set up this app on my desktop side. I allowed Remote Desktop service, also the firewall is off.

I added the PC ip on the android app side.. still not connecting.

If you are on wifi your local IP address should work. If you are on another network then you will need to do some port forwarding to your PC on your router.

I connected with my galaxy tab 3 with bluetooth mouse and keyboard to my windows server 2012 machine and you can color me IMPRESSED… They kb and mouse work awesome with it too!

No but its only really practical on windows 8 given the small size of most phones.

They also released the iOS version today, in case anyone else has friends on that platform:

So why no WP version? Microsoft are in a mess, really cant wait for new CEO, hopefully will mean a focus from the company….

That is a little surprising. I know the old Windows Mobile had RDP client built in, but I havent seen that Windows Phone does.

I wish it worked on my Sony NSZ-GS8 Google TV. Well at least I have an alternative 3rd party RDP client that works.

anyone know how to enable apps for the remote resources menu? I want to have onenote on my tablet

Now android please return the favour, i need one client app for phone on the laptop

Writing this comment from the app itself. Its very impressive.

2X Client RDP/Remote Deskotop does this really well for free.

Ive been using 2X for a long time now. TBH, This RDP feels faster and smoother. Might just be a placebo effect or whatnot, but I can say it is right on par with the other RDP apps.

Ya, been using 2X myself, not sure if I want to install the Microsoft one, just because its Microsofts client lol.

how do you even set this uppppppppppppppp

I cant get this effing thing to work…

Teamviewer and Chrome Remote Desktop work pretty damn well and dont require a $99 upgrade for basic functionality. We all know that Win8 Pro is not preinstalled on any consumer PC (OK maybe gaming rigs)

Saw someone ask so heres what I also shared on another site…

These instructions are for Windows 8/8.1 Pro (Must be pro for RDC features.)

1. On your metro start screen type in Remote Access. Press enter on the tab that says Allow Remote Access to your Computer.

In that menu tick Allow remote connections to this computer. Then click select users and make sure your email is listed there.

Now open your command line and type ipconfig look for your IPv4 address. Itll probably something like 192.168.x or.

Goto your app, enter a name, enter in the computers IP address and for your login credentials enter in your email address you use to login and your password. Should establish a connection immediately. Sorry if I missed anything, figured someone could benefit from this!

Theres no option to select users in the remote access window. Im using Windows 8.1. Help?

Sorry Lucas Im not 100% sure but are you using a Pro version of the operating system? You must be on Windows 8 / 8.1 Pro, the standard versions do not contain the remote desktop features.

No, I am not running a Pro version. I didnt know that ): Thanks for the info though!

Looks like just another app. I use Team Viewer.

Sooo….how the hell do I set this up?

Will this work for computers with Vista or Win 7?

Teamview. Multi platform, secure, client for Android as well. So no.

Luckily I have W8 Pro. But is it better than splashtop?

This thing is very laggy. Splashtop won!

For me, splashtop is fast only when used inside my home network. Every time I try to use it over the internet, it is incredibly slow, like the slowest of all remoting apps I have tried, and too slow to even be used.

TeamViewer is my go-to for remote over the internet. Splashtop for over my network.

can you please explain how you got this to work? I have tried everything and searched everywhere. Remote desktop works great if you are trying to connect from one computer to another, but from the app to a PC, all i get is Error host not found.

Hey guys, Windows 8.1 Pro 9600 doesnt have Remote Desktop?

Terminal Services RemoteApp (TS RemoteApp)

Terminal Services RemoteApp (TS RemoteApp) enables organizations to provide access to standard Windows®-based programs from virtually any location to users with computers running Windows Vista®, Windows Server® 2008, or Windows XP with Service Pack 3 (SP3). TS RemoteApp is also available to users with computers running Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2), Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 (SP1), or Windows Server 2003 with SP2 that have the new Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) client installed.

See theAre there any special considerations?section for information about client requirements for accessing RemoteApp programs through Terminal Services Web Access (TS Web Access).

TS RemoteApp is installed as part of the Terminal Server role service in Windows Server 2008.

RemoteApp programs are programs that are accessed remotely through Terminal Services and appear as if they are running on the end users local computer. Users can run RemoteApp programs side by side with their local programs. A user can minimize, maximize, and resize the program window, and can easily start multiple programs at the same time. If a user is running more than one RemoteApp program on the same terminal server, the RemoteApp programs will share the same Terminal Services session.

Users can run RemoteApp programs in a number of ways. They can:

Double-click a program icon on their desktop or

menu that has been created and distributed by their administrator with a Windows Installer (.msi) package.

Double-click a file whose extension is associated with a RemoteApp program. (This can be configured by their administrator with a Windows Installer package.)

The .rdp files and Windows Installer packages contain the settings needed to run RemoteApp programs. After opening the RemoteApp program on a local computer, the user can interact with the program that is running on the terminal server as if it were running locally.

TS RemoteApp can reduce complexity and reduce administrative overhead in many situations, including:

You should review this topic, and the additional supporting documentation on TS RemoteApp, if you are in any of the following groups:

IT professionals who deploy or administer terminal servers, LOB applications, or applications that can be more efficiently deployed with TS RemoteApp.

To access RemoteApp programs that are deployed as .rdp files or as Windows Installer packages, the client computer must be running Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) 6.0 or RDC 6.1. (RDC 6.1 [6.0.6001] supports Remote Desktop Protocol 6.1.) A supported version of the RDC client is included with Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.

The RDC 6.0 software is available for use on Windows XP with SP2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, and Windows Server 2003 with SP2. You can download the installer package from article 925876 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (

To access RemoteApp programs through TS Web Access, the client computer must be running RDC 6.1. RDC 6.1 is included with the following operating systems:

Users can run programs from a terminal server and have the same experience as if the programs were running on the end users local computer, including resizable windows, drag-and-drop support between multiple monitors, and notification icons in the notification area.

TS RemoteApp improves the users experience, opens new avenues for program deployment, and reduces the amount of administrative effort required to support these programs.

Instead of being presented to the user in the desktop of the remote terminal server, the RemoteApp program is integrated with the clients desktop, running in its own resizable window with its own entry in the taskbar. If the program uses a notification area icon, this icon appears in the clients notification area. Popup windows are redirected to the local desktop. Local drives and printers can be redirected to appear in the RemoteApp program. Many users might not be aware that the RemoteApp program is any different than a local program.

You should evaluate your programs to see which ones might be suited to being run as a RemoteApp program, and then test the programs. To test your programs, follow the procedures described in the TS RemoteApp Step-by-Step Guide to configure your terminal server to support RemoteApp programs and to use the TS RemoteApp Manager snap-in to make RemoteApp programs available to users.

For a program to run as a RemoteApp program, the terminal server that hosts the program must be running Windows Server 2008. Any program that can run in a Terminal Services session should be able to run as a RemoteApp program.

Some of the fundamental changes in the Windows Server 2008 operating system might impact earlier versions of programs that run correctly under earlier versions of the Windows operating system. If you experience difficulty running a program as a RemoteApp program, verify that it runs correctly on the local console of a server that is running Windows Server 2008.

Review other sections of this guide for additional information about compatibility issues.

For more information about TS RemoteApp, see the TS RemoteApp Step-by-Step Guide (

Mobile devices like theiPadhave come a long way in terms of features and usability. You can get actual work done with a the right apps on a touchscreen, but there are still times you need access to a desktop environment. However, you dont have to put the iPad down to do that any more. In fact, there are plenty of remote desktop apps for the iPad, at least one of which will fulfill your needs for a mobile, touch-friendly remote desktop app.

Since you clearly have an iPad and know what remote desktop is already, here are the best remote desktop apps for iPad

The freePocketCloudapp comes from Wyse, which is a long-time big shot in the area of remote desktop and thin clients. You can really tell these folks know what theyre doing, too. PocketCloud is snappy and easy to set up. It ties into yourGoogleaccount so you dont have to make yet another login.

The app connects quickly and is tuned for maximum performance. That means the default settings will scale back on the eye candy like high quality fonts and desktop wallpaper. However, you can crank that stuff up if youve got the bandwidth.

Cursor control in PocketCloud is one of its strong suits. You can either tap and drag normally, or activate the Touch Pointer. With this mode enabled, you get a pointer that remains stationary so you can pan the screen around it. Grabbing the handle on the pointer also lets you move it in a more normal way. Tapping the handle is a click, and the expanded options for the Touch Pointer include common functions like right-click, keyboard access, and scrolling.

A premium subscription for $23.99 a year adds features like file transfer and video streaming. The free edition is still a great experience on PCs and Macs.

A good spur-of-the-moment remote desktop tool isTeamViewer. You dont need an account, and the desktop client can be run without installing on Windows, and also works on Macs. The iPad version of this app is free for non-commercial use, and works pretty well with a little tweaking.

Like other apps, TeamViewer automatically adjusts the connection for speed. It actually changes the resolution of the remote computer, but you can turn that feature off. The touch controls are a bit confusing it uses 2-finger dragging to scroll, and the zoom control actually zooms the desktop app you are in, not the iPads view. Mouse control is more straightforward. Just tap and drag anywhere to move the cursor, a tap is a click, and a long-press is right click. Zooming works as expected in this mode.

TeamViewer handles multiple monitors well, and the app is fast. It doesnt have extra file browser functionality or cloud storage, but it gets the job done.

This app comes with a $0.99 initial buy-in, but it includes a lot of solid features.Splashtop 2works on PCs and Macs (up to 5 devices). There are two control modes trackpad and pointer. Trackpad uses moremultitouchgestures, which can be very efficient if you get acclimated to them. The pointer mode just lets you tap and drag anywhere to move the pointer around. Both modes use standard pinch-zooming, but pointer mode is better for precise work (like spreadsheets).

Splashtop again optimizes the desktop resolution for the iPad, but its easy to turn that off, and the app remembers your preferences for each computer. This app also has fast monitor switching and a persistent keyboard toggle that comes in handy. The on-screen UI is kept to a minimum with the toolbar hidden by default.

The apps basic functions are included with the price, but there are a few in-app purchases for advanced options. The Anywhere Access subscription lets you connect to your computers when youre away from your home network. This connection is handled by Splashtop with 256-bit AES encryption. Its $1.99 per month. The productivity Pack is also $1.99 per month, and includes presentation tools, annotation, and more.
